Upgrading Rego

Rego is now supported and updated by Peer Assembly. This change requires you to manually download an update from the App Store (once you’ve completed this step, future updates will work automatically).

Before downloading the new app, there are a few steps to take in order to transfer your existing data and any purchases.

IMPORTANT: Before following any of these steps, please make sure you’re running version 2.7.7 of Rego (you can check this on the settings page). If not, open the App Store, tap on the Updates tab and download the latest version of Rego there.

Saving your existing data

Rego can use Dropbox to save a backup of your data. To access this feature, first navigate to the Settings screen (tap the gear icon on the Collections screen) and then follow these steps:

  1. Tap Backup & Restore
  2. Tap Connect to Dropbox and enter your Dropbox login details (you can sign up for a free account if you don’t already have an Dropbox account)
  3. Tap Backup Now and wait while the backup completes

Transferring your purchases

If you have purchased the pro version of Rego, or if you have unlocked the pro features using an in-app purchase, then you need to ensure you have a Rego account created in order to register your purchases. If you already have a Rego account, then you’re done. Otherwise, navigate to the Settings screen and:

  1. Tap Rego Account
  2. Log in if you already have an account; otherwise sign up for an account

Delete the existing App

In order for Dropbox to authorize the new app, you have to first remove the existing app from your phone. If you ever want to restore the older copy of Rego, you’ll be able to access it from your Purchased list in the App Store.

Download the updated App

To download the latest copy of Rego, tap the following link:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rego-bookmark-your-places/id1455145867

Once the app has downloaded, follow these steps:

  1. Launch Rego and navigate to the Settings screen
  2. Verify that the version number is 2.8 or later
  3. Log into your Rego Account as above
  4. Tap Backup & Restore
  5. Tap Restore Device From Dropbox and follow the instructions

That’s it! Once you’ve checked that all your data is restored, you should be good to go.
