The Rego app has had a permanent place on my home screen since I found it many years ago and started using it to record campsite locations in Europe (I was traveling in a motorhome with my wife and wanted to record some of the amazing places we found along the way).

I’m an app developer and I contacted Makalu about some feature ideas and they were happy to let me work on the app. Over time, I became responsible for the app’s ongoing development. Earlier this year, we chatted about the future of Rego and agreed that it would be best if I took over the app entirely.

Apple have some restrictions about how an app can be transferred between companies. Essentially, it means that the existing app has to be removed from sale and a new app created. We’ve worked hard to make the transition as easy as possible for the existing users of Rego, so that you don’t lose your data, and you don’t need to purchase it again. However, there are a few steps that you have to complete the transfer. This page gives you step-by-step instructions:

I’m really excited about the future of Rego. It’s always seemed like the kind of app that could be useful in so many situations, if only people knew to look for it.
